Product Description
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver high reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding applications. Built on the motor industry’s most successful modular platform, they are tailor-made to meet the needs of each customer and application, offering the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations.
AMI modular induction motors comply with all relevant international standards and are available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation. The motors feature a welded steel frame and are available with shaft heights from 400 mm to 630 mm. They can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
While this catalogue presents technical data at 50 Hz, AMI motors are also rated for 60 Hz operation, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3,600 rpm. The output powers covered in this catalogue reach up to 8,000 kW, while the complete product range extends up to 23,000 kW.
Enclosure and Cooling Options
IC01 / IP24 — Weather Protected
This motor features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. The air intake path is engineered so that the average air velocity does not exceed 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle out. The intake path includes three acute direction changes exceeding 90° to further optimize flow rate. The motor is protected against splashing water from any direction.
IC611 / IP55 — Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed design incorporates an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing to supply the internal and external cooling circuits respectively. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC81W / IP55 — Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed motor is fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger. A shaft-mounted fan inside the casing supplies the internal cooling circuit. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC31 / IP55 — Remote Cooling Air
This version is fitted with inlet and outlet ducts for use with remote cooling air. It is essentially the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors:
- IMB3 (IM 1001): Horizontal foot-mounted
- IMV1 (IM 4011): Vertical flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downwards)
- Other mounting arrangements are available upon request.

Warranty
Standard warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
