1. Overview

Modular Induction Motors – Type AMI

AMI engineered modular induction motors deliver exceptional reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding applications. Each motor is tailor-made to meet the specific needs of individual customers and applications. Built on the motor industry's most successful modular platform, they accommodate a broad variety of demanding application requirements while offering the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations.

AMI modular induction motors comply with all relevant international standards. Versions are available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation.

The motors feature a welded steel frame and are available with the following standard cooling methods and protection types:

• IC01 / IP24W
• IC611 / IP55
• IC81W / IP55
• Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm. Motors can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
• While the catalog lists technical data at 50 Hz, these motors operate at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds from 500 to 3,600 rpm. Catalog output powers reach up to 8,000 kW, while the complete product range extends to 23,000 kW.

3. Enclosure and Cooling

IC01 / IP24
This weather-protected motor features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The motor design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. The air intake path is designed to maintain an average air velocity not exceeding 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle. The intake path includes three acute direction changes exceeding 90 degrees to further optimize airflow. The motor is protected against splashing water from any direction.

IC611 / IP55
This design features an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on a fully enclosed motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing to supply the internal and external cooling circuits, respectively. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.

IC81W / IP55
This fully enclosed motor is fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger. A shaft-mounted fan inside the casing supplies the internal cooling circuit. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.

IC31 / IP55
This version is fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air. Essentially, this is the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.

5. Warranty

• Standard warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever occurs first.
