Modular Induction Motors, Type AMI

High reliability and availability

AMI engineered modular induction motors deliver outstanding reliability and availability for the toughest and most demanding applications.

Engineered modular induction motors are tailor‑made to satisfy individual customer and application requirements. Built on the motor industry’s proven modular platform, they fulfill a wide spectrum of demanding application needs while retaining flexibility for highly‑specialized custom configurations.

Modular induction motors conform to all relevant international standards. Units are suitable for both direct‑on‑line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation.

AMI modular induction motors adopt welded steel frames. Standard available cooling and protection combinations include IC01 / IP24W, IC611 / IP55 and IC81W / IP55. Standard shaft heights range from 400 mm to 630 mm. Both horizontal and vertical mounting options are supported.

This catalogue lists AMI motor technical data under 50 Hz conditions only; nevertheless, the motors support 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm.

The catalogue‑covered output power reaches up to 8,000 kW, while the complete product portfolio extends to 23,000 kW.

2. Mounting Arrangements

Below are standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors. Other mounting forms are available upon request.

• Code I: IM B3 / Code II: IM 1001 — Horizontal foot‑mounted
• Code I: IM V1 / Code II: IM 4011 — Vertical flange‑mounted (free shaft end facing downwards)

3. Enclosure and Cooling

IC01 / IP24

This weather‑protected motor is equipped with a shaft‑driven internal cooling fan. Its structure minimizes ingress of rain, snow and airborne particles into electrical components.

On the air intake route, average air velocity is limited to ≤ 3 m/s so heavy particles can settle. The intake path features more than three sharp direction changes exceeding 90°, further optimizing airflow velocity. The motor provides protection against splashing water from all directions.

IC611 / IP55

This fully‑enclosed motor is fitted with an air‑to‑air heat exchanger. Shaft‑mounted fans are installed inside and outside the housing to drive internal and external cooling circuits respectively. It offers full‑range protection against dust and omnidirectional splashing water.

IC81W / IP55

This totally‑enclosed motor is configured with an air‑to‑water heat exchanger. A shaft‑mounted internal fan circulates air for the inner cooling circuit. It is dust‑proof and resistant to splashing water from any direction.

IC31 / IP55

This variant comes with air inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air supply. Basically it is an AMI motor frame without top cover. It is protected against dust and splashing water from all directions.

IC01

IC01 version with asymmetric internal air circulation.

4. Packaging

Export‑grade standard seaworthy packaging is adopted.
Options include plywood packaging or fumigated wooden packaging.
Suitable for long‑distance sea and land transportation.

5. Warranty Period

Standard warranty: 12 months after commissioning or 18 months after delivery, whichever occurs first.
