Product Description

1. Product Overview

AXR series rib-cooled induction motors represent the latest generation of multi-purpose rib-cooled motors, featuring high power density, flexible configuration and easy maintenance. The design draws on decades of electric motor manufacturing experience.

These motors set new industry benchmarks, achieving superior watts-per-kilogram performance versus traditional rib-cooled motors.
Thanks to high power density, users can often select a motor with one smaller frame size for a given power output, saving footprint and supporting compact system installation.

AXR motors conform to major industrial standards including API 541 and Shell DEP, alongside customized customer specifications.
The motor adopts a heavy-duty cast iron frame.
Standard configuration is rib-cooled design with IC411 cooling system and IP55 protection class. IC416 cooling and optional IP66 protection are also available; the IP66 rating has been validated by a reputable independent testing institute.

AXR motors cover power output up to 1,800 kW, with shaft heights from 315 mm to 500 mm. Both horizontal and vertical mounting types are supported. This catalog provides technical data of AXR motors for 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation, with synchronous speed ranging from 500 rpm to 3600 rpm.

2. Mounting Arrangements

Standard mounting options for AXR motors:

• Code I: IM B3 | Code II: IM 1001. Standard floor mounting, feet downward (horizontal foot mounted). Suitable for 560kw IC411 Rib-Cooled Induction Motor, IP55, 3000V, 50Hz, 8 Poles.
• Code I: IM V1 | Code II: IM 4011. Flange mounted with free shaft end facing downwards (vertical solid shaft). Suitable for 560kw IC411 Rib-Cooled Induction Motor, IP55, 3000V, 50Hz, 8 Poles.
• Code I: IM B35 | Code II: IM 2001. Horizontal foot-and-flange mounting, flange integrated on end shield, single cylindrical shaft extension with feet facing downwards.

3. Enclosure and Cooling

Standard Configurations

IC411 / IP55

AXR motors are fitted with an externally shaft-driven fan to utilize ambient air for cooling.
The enclosure protects the motor against dust ingress and water jets. The working principle can be referred to the schematic diagram.

IC416 / IP55

IC416 cooling is an optional solution for AXR motors.
A separate auxiliary motor drives the cooling fan to deliver sufficient cooling capacity for low-speed applications, especially for motors operated with variable speed drives.

Protection Grade IP55

• Dust protection: Limited dust ingress permitted; accumulated dust will not impair motor operation.
• Water jet protection: Water jets sprayed from any direction via nozzle will not cause damage.

Protection Grade IP66

AXR motors can be supplied up to IP66 protection:

• Dust protection: Fully dust-tight enclosure.
• Water jet protection: Powerful water jets (12.5 mm nozzle) striking the enclosure from any direction will not lead to harmful effects.

IC411 Cooling Principle

• Frame surface cooling: Primary coolant circulates inside the motor in a closed loop and dissipates heat through the motor outer surface (along with heat conduction via stator core and other conductive components) to ambient air. The frame surface can be plain or ribbed, and may be equipped with an outer shell to enhance heat transfer efficiency.
• Self-circulation: Coolant flow is driven by main motor rotation. Driving force can come directly from rotor rotation, a dedicated component mounted on the rotor, or fan/pump assembly mechanically coupled to the main motor rotor.

4. Packaging

Export standard seaworthy packaging.
Available options: plywood case or fumigated wooden case.
Suitable for long-distance sea and land transportation.

5. Warranty Period

Standard warranty: 12 months after commissioning or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
