1. Product Description
Modular Induction Motors, Type AMI: High Reliability and Availability
AMI engineered modular induction motors are tailor-made to deliver exceptional reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding industrial applications. Built upon the motor industry's most successful modular platform, these motors are designed to meet specific customer needs and match a broad variety of rigorous application requirements. They offer the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations while fully complying with all relevant international standards.
Available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation, AMI modular induction motors feature a robust welded steel frame. Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm, and they can be mounted horizontally or vertically. While standard catalog data is often listed at 50 Hz, these motors operate seamlessly at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm. Output powers covered in this series reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete AMI range extending up to 23,000 kW.
2. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors include:
- IM B3 (Code II: IM 1001): Horizontal foot-mounted
- IM V1 (Code II: IM 4011): Vertical flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downwards)

3. Enclosure and Cooling Options
- IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected): Features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. The air intake path maintains an average velocity below 3 m/s to allow heavier particles to settle, and includes three acute direction changes (exceeding 90 degrees) to optimize flow rate. Protects against splashing water from any direction.
- IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed design featuring an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing to supply independent internal and external cooling circuits. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed motor equipped with an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC31 / IP55 (Remote Cooling Air): Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air. Essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC01 (Asymmetric Circulation): Features IC01 cooling with asymmetric inside air circulation for specialized applications.
4. Packaging

5. Warranty Period
