1. Product Description: Modular Induction Motors (AMI Series)
High Reliability and Availability
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver exceptional reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding industrial applications. Built on the motor industry's most successful modular platform, these tailor-made motors match a broad variety of rigorous application requirements while offering the flexibility to be adapted into highly specific configurations.
Standards and Operational Flexibility
These modular induction motors comply with all relevant international standards. They are available in versions suitable for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation. Featuring a robust welded steel frame, the standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm, and the motors can be mounted horizontally or vertically. While technical data in standard catalogs often highlights 50 Hz, these motors operate efficiently at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, providing synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm. Output powers covered typically reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.
2. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements are provided for AMI motors, with other configurations available upon request:
- Code I: IM B3 / Code II: IM 1001: Horizontal foot mounted.
- Code I: IM V1 / Code II: IM 4011: Vertical flange mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).
3. Enclosure and Cooling Options
- IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected): Features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into electrical parts. The air intake path maintains an average velocity below 3 m/s to allow heavier particles to settle and includes three acute direction changes (>90 degrees) to optimize flow rate. Protects against splashing water from any direction.
- IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed design with an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing to supply independent cooling circuits. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed motor fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC31 / IP55 (Remote Cooling Air): Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes to utilize remote cooling air. Essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC01 (Asymmetric Circulation): Features IC01 cooling with asymmetric inside air circulation.
4. Packaging
All motors are shipped in standard seaworthy packages suitable for export. Options include plywood or wooden fumigation packages, ensuring safe and secure long-distance transportation by sea or land.
5. Warranty Period
- Standard Warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
