Modular Induction Motors, Type AMI

AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to provide exceptional reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding industrial applications. Built upon the motor industry's most successful modular platform, these tailor-made motors offer the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations while meeting a broad variety of rigorous application requirements.

Complying with all relevant international standards, AMI modular induction motors are available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operations. Key features include:

• Robust Construction: Features a welded steel frame with standard shaft heights ranging from 400 to 630 mm.
• Versatile Mounting: Can be mounted horizontally or vertically based on application needs.
• Flexible Frequency Operation: While technical data in standard catalogs may highlight 50 Hz, these motors operate seamlessly at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, delivering synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm.
• High Power Output: The AMI series covers output powers up to 8,000 kW in this catalog, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.

3. Mounting Arrangements

Standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors are designed for versatile installation. Other mountings are available upon request.

• Code I: IM B3 / Code II: IM 1001: Horizontal foot-mounted configuration.
• Code I: IM V1 / Code II: IM 4011: Vertical flange-mounted configuration (free shaft end facing downwards).

4. Enclosure and Cooling Systems

AMI motors are available with multiple standard cooling methods and protection types to suit diverse environmental conditions:

• IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected): Features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The design limits air intake velocity to an average of 3 m/s and incorporates three acute direction changes (exceeding 90 degrees) to reduce rain, snow, and airborne particle ingress. It protects against splashing water from any direction.
• IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Cooled): A fully enclosed design featuring an air-to-air heat exchanger. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing to supply independent cooling circuits. Provides complete protection against dust and splashing water.
• IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Cooled): A fully enclosed motor equipped with an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit, offering robust protection against dust and splashing water.
• IC31 / IP55 (Remote Cooling Air): Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes to utilize remote cooling air. This version essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, while maintaining protection against dust and splashing water.
• IC01 (Asymmetric Circulation): Features IC01 cooling with an asymmetric inside air circulation design for specialized thermal management.

5. Packaging

To ensure safe transit, all motors are shipped in standard seaworthy packages suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land. Available packaging options include:

• Plywood package
• Wooden fumigation package

6. Warranty Period

• Standard Warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
