Rib-Cooled AXR Series High Voltage Induction Motor
The AXR series represents the latest generation of multipurpose rib-cooled high voltage induction motors, designed with high power density, flexible configurability, and built-in serviceability. Built on years of professional electric motor manufacturing experience, these motors set a new industry benchmark by delivering more watts per kilogram than conventional rib-cooled motors.
Thanks to their high power density, a smaller frame size can often be selected for the same output compared with conventional products, helping to save installation space and enable more compact system layouts. AXR motors comply with major industry standards such as API 541 and Shell DEP, and can also be configured according to customer specifications.
The AXR series features a rugged cast iron frame and is available with outputs up to 1,800 kW and shaft heights from 315 to 500 mm. The motors can be mounted horizontally or vertically and are suitable for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz applications, covering synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm.

Enclosure and Cooling
IC411 / IP55
AXR motors are equipped with an external shaft-mounted fan that uses surrounding air for cooling. The motors provide protection against dust and water jets, making them suitable for most industrial indoor and outdoor applications.
IC416 / IP55
AXR motors are also available with IC416 cooling. In this configuration, an additional motor drives the cooling fan to provide stable cooling for low-speed applications, especially when the motor is supplied by a variable speed drive.
IP55 Protection
- Dust protection: limited dust ingress is possible, but not in quantities sufficient to affect normal motor operation.
- Water protection: water projected by a nozzle against the motor from any direction has no harmful effect.
- IP66 Protection
AXR motors are available with protection up to IP66, which has been verified by a leading independent testing organization. - Dust protection: the enclosure is completely dust-tight.
- Water protection: powerful water jets from any direction have no harmful effect on the motor.
- Cooling Method – IC411
- Frame surface cooling: the primary coolant circulates in a closed circuit inside the motor and transfers heat through the external surface of the motor, including the stator core and other heat-conducting parts, to the surrounding medium. The surface may be plain or ribbed, with or without an outer shell to improve heat transfer.
- Self-circulation: the coolant flow is driven by the rotational speed of the main motor, either by the rotor itself or by a fan or pump unit mechanically driven by the rotor.
Packaging
Standard seaworthy export packaging is provided, including plywood cases or fumigated wooden packages. The packaging is suitable for long-distance transportation by sea and land.
Warranty
Standard warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever occurs first.
