1. Product Overview
The HXR 560 series is a line of rib-cooled induction motors built on a robust cast-iron frame. These are totally enclosed, fan-cooled machines supplied as standard with IC411 cooling and IP55 protection, with IC416 cooling and an upgraded IP66 enclosure available as options. Covering output ratings up to 2,250 kW and offered in a 560 mm shaft height, the series supports both horizontal and vertical mounting. Although the technical data in this catalog is listed at 50 Hz, the motors run equally well on 50 Hz or 60 Hz supplies, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3,600 rpm.
2. Mounting Arrangements
The HXR series supports the following standard mounting configurations:
- IM B3 (IM 1001) — Horizontal floor mounting with feet facing downward.
- IM V1 (IM 3011) — Vertical flange mounting with flange and free shaft end pointing downward.
3. Enclosure and Cooling Options
IC411 / IP55 (Standard) — Cooling is delivered by an external fan mounted directly on the motor shaft, drawing ambient air across the finned frame surface. The enclosure shields the machine against dust ingress and water jets.
IC416 / IP55 (Optional) — For low-speed duty, particularly when the motor is powered through a variable-speed drive, a separately driven fan supplies the additional cooling flow required.
Protection Ratings — At IP55, the motor tolerates limited dust ingress that does not interfere with operation and withstands water projected from any direction. At IP66, the enclosure is fully dust-tight and remains unaffected by powerful water jets delivered through a 12.5 mm nozzle from any angle.
Cooling Principle (IC411) — Heat generated inside the motor is transferred through the stator core and other conducting parts to the external finned frame surface, where it is dissipated to the surrounding air in a closed internal circuit. The coolant is circulated by the rotation of the rotor itself, either directly or through a fan unit driven by the main motor shaft.
4. Packaging
All units are supplied in standard export-grade seaworthy packaging, available in plywood or fumigated wooden cases, suitable for long-distance transport by sea or land.
5. Warranty
