Modular Induction Motors, Type AMI
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to provide high reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding applications. Tailor-made to meet specific customer needs, they are built on the motor industry's most successful modular platform, offering the flexibility to adapt to highly specific configurations while complying with all relevant international standards. Available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation, these motors feature a welded steel frame with standard shaft heights from 400 to 630 mm, and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. While technical data in the catalog is typically shown for 50 Hz, these motors operate at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm. Output powers covered in this catalog reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.
Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors include:
- Code I: IM B3 / Code II: IM 1001: Horizontal foot mounted.
- Code I: IM V1 / Code II: IM 4011: Vertical flange mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).
- Other mountings are available upon request.
- Enclosure and Cooling Systems
- IC01 / IP24: Weather-protected motor with a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The design limits air intake velocity to an average of 3 m/s and includes three acute direction changes (>90°) to reduce the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles. Protects against splashing water from any direction.
- IC611 / IP55: Fully enclosed design featuring an air-to-air heat exchanger. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside and outside the casing for dual cooling circuits. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC81W / IP55: Fully enclosed motor equipped with an air-to-water heat exchanger and an internal shaft-mounted fan. Protects against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC31 / IP55: Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air. Essentially the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC01 (Asymmetric): Features asymmetric inside air circulation.

Standard seaworthy package for export, utilizing plywood or wooden fumigation packages suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land. - Warranty Period
Standard warranty covers 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first. Extended warranty periods are available upon request.
