The AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver exceptional reliability and availability in the most demanding industrial applications. Built upon the industry's most successful modular platform, these motors are tailor-made to meet specific customer needs. They offer the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations while complying with all relevant international standards.
Available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation, AMI motors feature a robust welded steel frame. Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm, with options for horizontal or vertical mounting. While technical data is often presented at 50 Hz, these motors are fully operational at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, delivering synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm. The cataloged output power reaches up to 8,000 kW, with the complete product range extending to 23,000 kW.
Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting configurations ensure versatile installation:
- IM B3 (IM 1001): Horizontal foot-mounted.
- IM V1 (IM 4011): Vertical flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).

Enclosure and Cooling Systems
AMI motors offer multiple cooling and protection options to suit diverse environmental conditions:
IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected)
This design features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The air intake path is engineered with three acute direction changes exceeding 90 degrees, ensuring the average air velocity does not exceed 3 m/s. This allows heavier airborne particles to settle, effectively reducing the ingress of rain, snow, and dust. The motor is protected against splashing water from any direction.
IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger)
A fully enclosed design utilizing an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted on both the inside and outside of the casing to supply separate internal and external cooling circuits. This configuration provides complete protection against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger)
This fully enclosed motor is equipped with an air-to-water heat exchanger. A shaft-mounted fan inside the casing supplies the internal cooling circuit, making it ideal for environments where water cooling is preferred. It offers full protection against dust and splashing water.
IC31 / IP55 (Remote Cooling Air)
Designed with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air supply. This version essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, maintaining IP55 protection against dust and splashing water.
Packaging and Logistics
All motors are prepared for safe, long-distance transportation via sea or land. Standard packaging includes:
- Standard seaworthy export package.
- Plywood case or wooden fumigation-free package.
Warranty Information
- Standard Warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever occurs first.
